NVIDIA has released an upgraded version of the best android TV device- Shield Streaming box. The android powered Streaming box is an improvised version of the older sibling, earlier launched in summer of 2015.

Shield TV is unveiled during CES 2017, which was wrapped up last week in Las Vegas, Nevada. The device is priced at $199 in pre-order sales and comes along with remote and game controller.

The newer Android TV box packs a whole of features, includes the Android Nougat update, Google Assistant and improvised controller, reports Phandroid.

The new Shield Streaming box is 40% smaller than the original and similar in size with its competitors. But the hardware is the same Tegra X1 system. The controller is a hands-free voice control and corresponds with Google Assistant, thanks to this out-of-the-box feature.

But, to the disappointment, Shield users have to wait for the Google Assistant as it is not yet ready for Android TV to pick up voice control commands. The remote accompanying the box also works as a hands-free, according to Android Police.

Along with the Shield Box, NVDIA also has announced NVIDIA Spot, a perfect voice assistant similar to Google Assistant can be bought separately. Spot syncs with Shield to give Google Home-like features anywhere in the home. Spot is similar to Amazon's Eco Dot, but, Spot won't work independently and required Shield to function first.

Further, the new model supports 4K recording and it streams 4K content from Netflix, Google Play, movies and Vudu. The Android TV has also added Amazon's Video in 4K HDR, which is a rival to many streaming TV's.

In addition to just being a streaming box, Shield also supports thousands of games like "Watch Dog 2", Assassin's Creed Syndicate and "For Honor", to name a few.

Not to disappoint the exiting Shield users, NVDIA says it will update the software of old boxes in January, enabling users to enjoy the new features. Incidentally, the new Shield TV is to be delivered to customers who placed pre-orders by end of this month.
