‘Galaxy S8’ Latest News & Updates: New Patent Reveals Samsung’s Latest Flagship Device
There have been so many talks on the Samsung Galaxy S8. Last week, in what is considered to be an official confirmation, the device was unveiled on Twitter. Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will be released anytime soon.
The developer revealed that the flagship device is coming soon after applying to the United States Patent and Trademark Office to register a new mobile device, according to Forbes. However, the information stated in the patent application provided no details with regards to the style, size, and color of the Samsung Galaxy S8.
The Korea-based technology giant did not also disclose the actual name to be used for the device, so it is still not known if the device will be called Galaxy S8. Fans are only speculating that the upcoming device will be named Galaxy S8 considering that it is the successor of the Galaxy S7.
However, it is important for fans to note that the Galaxy Note 5 launched in 2015 was followed up with the 2016 Galaxy Note 7, skipping up the Galaxy Note 6 name. It has been reported by multiple news that Apple will likely shift from its previous ways and change the name for this year's iPhone model, which means there is a possibility that the Galaxy S8 device would not be named S8. The first official look at Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge was recently unveiled on Twitter showing two cases of similar looking devices, According to Technflash.
The photos confirm that the upcoming flagships device will have a reduced top and bottom bezels. The bezel-less look suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge will have smaller screen displays with the devices expected to appear physically smaller. The reduction is meant to allow Samsung to fit a larger screen into the smartphones which physically looks no larger than the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
Moreover, unless the developer wants to apply its 2015 three-model release strategy, both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge are shown to have curved edge displays. Fans are expecting that as the debut date draws near, Samsung will reveal more details on the device, with a Galaxy Note 8 also coming soon, this could be an explosive year for Samsung.
It has also been reported that the company will not hold any event at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, rather, it will hold its own launch event March, in New York. The Galaxy S8 series are expected to be available for sale by April 18, 2017.
