Camilla Parker Bowles Cartoon: BBC Radio Makes A Royal Faux Pas
Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles might be the future Queen but she is still struggling to get proper respect as a royal. Recently, BBC Radio 2 made a faux pas by using her cartoon in a children's writing contest ad. The Camilla Parker Bowles cartoon that has caused embarrassment to the British royal family depicts Camilla as a fairy godmother.
BBC2 has launched a short story writing contest for children who are 5 years to 13 years old. Duchess Camilla is the Honorary Judge of the famous literary festival called the Cheltenham Festival but she did not expect to see a cartoon version of herself promoting the 500-word fiction writing contest for kids. The contest will run until Feb. 23, 2017. The winners of the contest will be invited to the Tower of London for a special live broadcast on the BBC breakfast show with Chris Evans.
Some media reports poked fun at the ad clip by saying, "Bibbidi-bobbidi Camilla!" There were others who said that the fairy godmother in the clip looked nothing like the real Camilla. Camilla is wary of the animated cartoon versions of herself as her husband Prince Charles is the heir of Queen Elizabeth and is expected to be the King of England one day. She wants more respect from the public.
In December 2016, the future Queen was criticized for her Christmas card with Prince Charles. She does not get as much media attention as Prince William, Prince Harry, and Kate Middleton. Camilla has also been long compared to Princess Diana who had won hearts of the masses with her timeless beauty and kind-heartedness. It is said that both Camilla and Prince Charles suffer from social anxiety. Some critics say that the Camilla has never been forgiven by the public for breaking up the sweetest British royal couple - Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
The Toronto Sun reported that Camilla Shand was one of the many young women romantically linked with Prince Charles when he was young. Later, Camilla married Andrew Parker-Bowles while Prince Charles was married to Diana Spencer Churchill. The Daily Mail published an unseen letter written by Princess Diana in December 1991 in which she wrote, "I do feel extremely isolated more than ever now, as I see whats coming to this country and this family."
It is still to be seen whether Camilla will be given the official title of the Queen when her husband assumes the throne. Buckingham Palace has made no official statement about the BBC animation yet.
