In a surprising sweep of Oscar 2017 nominations, the movie "La La Land" was nominated for 14 categories for the 89th Academy Awards. "La La Land" is a musical film which shows a simple conversation between two young artists in a jazz club. A pianist named Seb (Ryan Gosling) and an actress called Mia (Emma Stone) start off with a not-so-friendly brief encounter but soon their mutual attraction takes over. Seb is intensely protective about jazz which mirrors how the writer-director Damien Chazelle feels for the big-screen musical.
