Recently, the "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson had revealed that she was once offered to play as the lead role in the Disney's live-action film "Cinderella." However, it turns out that she had turned the proposal down due to some personal rationales.

At the time Watson had turned down "Cinderella," she was still unaware that the live - action film Beauty and the Beast will have its own remake as mentioned by Game Spot. Watson had stated that "I didn't know they were going to make Beauty and the Beast at the time I turned down "Cinderella." But when they offered me Belle, I just felt the character resonated with me so much more than Cinderella did".

For Watson, Belle's characteristic is something she wanted to represent. She had described Belle as someone who is curious, compassionate and open - minded. To add with, Belle's characteristics had even inspired Watson more when the character had revealed her boldness and deviancy. According to the Entertainment Weekly, Watson had uttered that "There's this kind of outsider quality that Belle had and the fact she had this really empowering defiance of what was expected of her. In a strange way, she challenges the status quo of the place she lives in, and I found that really inspiring." She even mentioned how Belle knows how to keep her integrity and stand for her own point of view without being afraid of the gossipmongers or the scapegoaters. These are the kinds of characteristics a role model should have as claimed by the actress.

While Belle's personality remains in the upcoming movie, changes should also be expected. Reconstruction on Belle's background will be spotted since she was only known as a bookworm. Emma had mentioned that they made Belle an inventor in order to add some information in her upbringing. "Beauty and the Beast" will be release on March 17, 2017.
