HTC 2017 News & Update: Tech Giant Rubbishes Rumor Of An Android Wear Smartwatch
The internet is abuzz with the latest images of an upcoming Android smartwatch. According to latest reports, several images of an Android smartwatch has taken up the gadget world by storm. It is expected that the image is of the smartwatch that is jointly developed by Under Armour and HTC. Interestingly, the image clearly showed that watch being run by Android Wear that led the gadget geeks believe that it might be the upcoming watch from the tech biggie.
According to The Verge, HTC has denied all rumors of any upcoming Android Wear watch, at least at this point of time. The news was confirmed by Chialin Chang, the company's President of Smartphone and Connected Devices. He said, "we're not going to have an Android watch." Right after the statement from the high level executive doing rounds on the internet, the company officials were contacted to clarify the statement. Sadly, the company officials have also agreed to the statement that the company won't be releasing any Android Wear smartwatch in the future.
As per Digital Trends, HTC had been working on its watch since 2014 when a square shaped smartwatch appeared in the company's design video. However, after almost two years of complete silence, the internet has been circulating images of another Halfbeak prototype with the branding name Under Armour and HTC in it end of last year. This indicated there might be a possibility of a new smartwatch from the tech biggie. As per the latest news, the images circulating on the internet is of an old prototype and not of any upcoming smartwatch that the company might be working on at present.
It is interesting to note that might be some wiggle room in HTC's statement. As the company mentioned that it might not have an Android Wear smartwatch doesn't mean HTC won't be manufacturing one. However, going by Chang'revealation, the watch has been scrapped till the company witnesses some growth. He did mention 'short term' that means the company might not go off from the market indefinitely.
