Another Snapchat-inspired Facebook Feature: Posting 'Stories' Above Newsfeed
Facebook has a lot of updates and the recent one involves its bid to keep up with its almost close competitor, Snapchat. The famous social media platform has introduced a feature known as "Stories." This allows while users to post photos and videos as their personal story that will last for only 24 hours.
Snapchat is popular for this feature and this has even made Instagram come up with its own "story" update. Meanwhile, Facebook launched its own version in August which is still being tried in Ireland. The latest update is expected to roll out in "more countries in the the coming months," as reported by Daily Mail.
The latest Facebook update works similarly with Snapchat and Instagram Stories where a user just needs to add photos and videos to their stories. These stories can be tapped through by their friends prior to disappearing after a day.
The Facebook Stories also has its own camera effects, such as frames, text, and masks, to match the user's mood and story. Meanwhile, the user's friends can send a reply to their stories and the user can read it from their "Direct" - a specific space for friends to have their conversation about the posted photo or video.
"The way people share today is different to five or even two years ago - it's much more visual, with more photos and videos than ever before," a Facebook spokesperson said.
The Drum reported that this is not the first time that the famous social app, Facebook, has gotten inspiration from Snapchat. In fact, in September 2016, it has introduced another feature that is similar to Snapchat. This includes an easier video calling for Messenger users.
