'Street Fighter 5' Arcade Mode Update: 'Tekken 7' Director May Have Drawn First Blood in Giant Franchises' Battle
The battle between two giant gaming franchises may have just started. "Tekken 7" director recently dished developments about the home version of the title. In his interview, he appears to have jabbed "Street Fighter 5" and its issues with fans and the demands for an arcade mode.
For a couple of months now, fans have been wanting to hear an announcement about the highly anticipated "Street Fighter 5" arcade mode. Unfortunately, Capcom has not heeded the calls for the new mode yet. Until now, fans are waiting and it has yet to be seen if the long wait will be in vain.
With "Tekken 7," Bandai Namco is taking things one step at a time. In a sit down with IGN, Katsuhiro Harada, the franchise's director, revealed the plans for the game's arcade version. During the interview, Harada said the development team has decided to delay the arcade mode's launch. He said the team realized a lot of things after seeing what happened to other franchises. The outlet suggests that Harada's comments, in part, were directed to the chaos that happened with the release of "Street Fighter 5" last year.
It is now speculated that Capcom will fire back. Some fans suggest that the "Street Fighter 5" arcade mode should be launched for the sake of taking a shot back at Bandai Namco. While it is uncommon for gaming companies to take subtle jabs for failed projects, "Street Fighter 5" fans are still backing their beloved franchise up.
Capcom has yet to officially announce if a "Street Fighter 5" arcade mode will ever be released. However, one players is working to make it happen. According to Game Rant, modder Resvrgam, who is also a former game designer, unleashed a gameplay video of the anticipated mode. As of writing, Capcom has not responded to the modder's calls.
On the other hand, fans are hoping that Resvrgam's video will reach Capcom. They believe that if the developer realizes the possibilities in a "Street Fighter 5" arcade mode, the development team may work on it. Check out the gameplay video from the modder below.
