"The Winds of Winter" remains to be one of the anticipated books for years. According to new reports, George RR Martin is publishing a new "Game of Thrones" story this year. Unfortunately, it's not the sixth "A Song of Ice and Fire" book.

After five years and counting of waiting, many are hopeful that "The Winds of Winter" will see the light of day this year. Unfortunately, the release date of the most popular book remains dim. "I think it will be out this year," GRRM wrote on his blog. "But hey, I thought the same thing last year."

The celebrity author himself is not sure when his book will be released. Thus, to avoid disappointment don't hope too much for "The Winds of Winter." However, good news because a new "Game of Thrones" story will be published this year, Spoiler Scoop reported. Martin is reportedly busy with another tale from the world of Westeros, titled "Book of Swords." The book is due in October.

There is already an Amazon listing for the upcoming "The Winds of Winter" book, which is edited by the renowned anthologist Gardner Dozois. "Fifteen original tales celebrating fantasy's golden age of sword and sorcery, including a new story from George R. R. Martin, set in the world of A Game of Thrones!" the listing goes.

According to Vulture, "The Winds of Winter" book is possibly made from the previously written historical material cut from "The World of Ice and Fire." One "ASOIAF" expert speculates that the book will be a version of "The Sons of the Dragon" that tells the story of Aenys and Maegor Targaryen.

Many believe that that "Book of Swords" is a treat to fans who have been waiting for "The Winds of Winter" because it might not arrive this year. Whatever the progress of "TWOW" is, it is certain that GRRM is working on it and will eventually release it.
