Snapchat Rumored To Be Working On Advanced Lens Feature; Expect Transformation
Snapchat is working real hard on its latest Lens feature that might allow the users to overlay filters on objects as well as lenses. This is a step ahead of going beyond taking selfies and has entered the beta testing phase as well. As per latest news, Snap, the parent version of Snapchat is already testing the feature on the internal version.
According to The Mirror, this latest feature is believed to be a breakthrough in the world lenses option which includes graphics with a rear facing camera. Even though it would be similar to how the lens is being used currently, but would include the option of recognizing real-world environment. It would allow the users to use overlay while clicking amazing pictures such as crimson sky, trees in the park and so on.
The feature is an advancement to the lens feature debuted last year. Interestingly, this one is just in its basic stage when it comes to implementation and overlaying effects such as leaves, snowfall to images from the primary camera. Now, the lens feature used in the front camera is way more advanced. It is able to recognize faces along with minor attributes such as raised eyebrows, movement in eyes, etc.
As per 9To5Mac, the lens included works on reality technology that allows the app to identify features through the camera lens such as nose, eyes, etc , as well as overlay certain real time objects. However, the company was approached to comment on the report and they declined.
It seems the users need to wait for some time to see how far this latest Snapchat feature comes live. It is expected to reach users within the coming week. Like other Snapchat features, this one too is expected to benefit users and advertisers alike. For instance, the ability to recognize a brand of car would be a boon for advertisers.
