OnePlus 5 Specs, Rumors, Release Date: On Par with Samsung S8; Will it be 2017's Best Smartphone?
OnePlus have been regarded as one of the most prominent brands in the Android era along with Samsung and Huawei. Just as the year starts, rumors had it that the Tech giant would once again rise this year with its upcoming smartphone, OnePlus 5.
Why OnePlus 5, not OnePlus 4? Smartphone users have been wondering the same logic as well. After the release of the brands, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, it had been stated to be the next one would be OnePlus 5. The reason was simply that Chinese considers the number 4 to be bad luck as stated by Know Your Mobile.
Vivo had been an example on why OnePlus could not include OnePlus 4 because as people know Vivo released Vivo V5 instead of V4. Yet, as usual, these are just speculations since Chinese brands, Xiaomi and Oppo had released models with the number 4 in it.
The dynamic specs that would be showcased in the smartphone is expected to be 6GB of RAM along with a 64GB of ROM powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor per Korea Portal. Along with the superb hardware is a 4000mah powered battery with a Dash Charge feature. It was also speculated that OnePlus 5 might feature a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display screen.
But, News 18 speculated that since the current flagship smartphone of OnePlus, OnePlus 3T has 6GB of RAM, the OnePlus 5 might have 8GB of RAM. More or less, tech enthusiasts would have to wait for further announcement.
Nonetheless, tech giants, Samsung and Apple along with the OnePlus battle for 2017’s best smartphone. Science Times also mentioned that since OnePlus released a 6GB of RAM alongside Samsung’s 4GB of RAM release. This would then give the upper hand for OnePlus in terms of RAM size as stated.
In regards to cost, it was noted that the rumored $500 OnePlus 5 might be the “most justified” priced compared to other brands’. Rumors also had it that the smartphone could be launched in May this year.
