New England Patriots Wins 2017 Super Bowl LI, Tom Brady Gets His Fifth Vince Lombardi Trophy In Overtime Win
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots completed the largest comeback in the game's history to emerge the Super Bowl LI Winner. The 2017 Vince Lombardi Trophy makes Brady the only quarterback in the history of the NFL to have five Super Bowl victories under his belt.
"Cool, Calm and collected" these were the words used by Danny Amendola to describe Tom Brady who he also referred to as the best ever. The Patriots had the odds against them at waning moments of the fourth quarter.
The Super Bowl LI fourth quarter began with a 28-9 score with the Atlanta Falcons leading the New England Patriots by 19 points. The largest Super Bowl comeback in history was only 10 points. With the 19 points lead, the Atlanta Falcons seem to be on their way to claim the Super Bowl 51 win. However, Brady and the Patriots had another thing in mind.
The relentless Patriots led by their always composed floor general converted plays after plays to erase the 19 point deficit and force the game into overtime, a first in the Super Bowl history. It is as though the Patriots' Super Bowl 51 began at the last few minutes of the fourth quarter.
The first three periods was an Atlanta Falcons show. Brady suffered his first pick-six in seven Super Bowl appearances. The New England Patriots' quarterback was also reduced into a tackling dummy as the Falcons' defense managed to repeatedly slip through the Patriots' wall.
The 2017 Super Bowl LI victory caps an intrigue filled year for the Patriots. The team had to play the first four games of the season without their star quarterback. NFL suspended Tom Brady for the first four games because of the so called "Deflategate" scandal.
After four quarters and an extra period, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were crowned the 2017 Super Bowl LI winner. The game ended with a score of 34-28.
