Tons of myths have been known by people regarding ways on how to find out if someone is lying to you. Well, some of those myths work and some just don’t. Fortunately, studies by experts and researchers had found out some of the effective ways that could work in order to spot a liar.

According to Daily Mail, chief executive officer of Calibrate (where people and companies as well are trained to spot Pinocchios), Pamela Meyer shared some of the ways they do to avoid deception in their company. The author of 'Liespotting' then pointed out that there would be always leaks or hints. Meyer then noted that it’s all about observation.

Nonetheless, it was said by Meyer that “Liars may split hairs, decline to answer, change the subject or tone, protest a question, even put up their hands while protesting.” It was then noted by her that fidgeting is normal and that the true key to spotting a liar is “change” and not specific actions like lip biting, shoulder shrugging or such.

Meyer then stated that the smile gives away someone if they are lying or not. She mentioned as well that the true smile could be found in the eyes then the fake smile on the mouth. “Also watch for a smile of contempt with one lip corner curled, as if the liar thinks he or she is getting away with something” she added.

Moreover, Telegraph also mentioned that University of Michigan researchers who studied law court video clips found out that liars tend to have more eye contact than those telling the truth since even people who tell the truth could be nervous when being asked. They also detected that frequent use of hand gestures and having grimace expressions were done by those people who lie on the court.

With that said, upon liars having more direct eye contact it was noted by Troy Media that some of the eye movements that could spot deception are pupil dilation or blink rate by the eyes. It was also noted that changes in intonation could also help in spotting a liar. Yet, it was also noted that ways differ on effect for some people since not all people display stress or guilt upon being questioned.
