Health News: The Top 4 Dangerous Areas For Body Fat, Check Out!
Most people have particular areas in the body that have excess fat. When someone gains weight, these areas attract excess fat. The bust, the thighs, the waist are few of these dangerous areas that store fat.
According to the New York Post, certain areas that store fat might be damaging the health. "We have shown that the cells from belly fat versus butt fat are like different flavors - they're really different kinds of fat," explains Susan K. Fried, professor at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sina. Her research mainly focused on fat storage in the body.
The research discovered that fat stored around the tummy is the biggest concern. Fried mentioned that excess fat around the midsection of the body is known as the visceral fat. This is the fat that accumulates around the organs. It differs from the subcutaneous fat- the one that lies under the skin. This type of fat is usually less worrying.
"Increase inflammation in the body, leading to Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, to name a few [health issues]," said Dr. Kristen Gill Hairston, medical director of the Diabetes and Endocrinology Center.
Along with the stomach, the love handles are also an area of concern. In fact, body fat gets stored in love handles the most. However, according to Dr. Hairston, these stores subcutaneous fat that carries less health risk. Still, these extra pounds can result in issues such as sleep apnea, osteoporosis and more.
The next comes the thighs. Often people ignore these areas and believe in 'no thigh gap no problem'. Interestingly, Fried said no thigh gaps are associated with better health Cosmopolitan reported. In fact, fat thighs reduces the chance of diabetes and cardiac diseases. This concept applies to both men and women. However, women tend to have a pear shaped body.
Dr. Fried said the experts are still unsure as why this happens, but the fact that lower body fat doesn't get stored in places where it can cause damage such as liver or muscles. Next, upper body fat is also undesirable and dangerous than lower body fat. These include fats stored in muscles that result in resistance to insulin.
