Must Read: Exercise, Reduced Body Weight Helps Control Breast Cancer Recurrence ? Details Here!
Just a 30 minute stroll everyday helps women with breast cancer and prevents its recurrence. A new study claimed that following an exercise regime and keeping bodyweight in check help reduce risk of cancer returning.
Interestingly, the researchers also claimed that boozing might also trigger the disease in those who have already fought the disease. Around one out of four women diagnosed with early stage of breast cancer eventually die due to it.
However, the latest findings tend to give a lot of hope to the cancer survivors. The research claimed to provide hope to the millions who are looking for ways to combat the deadly disease Daily Mail Online reported. Researchers have reviewed about 67 articles that looked at the changes in lifestyle. This includes diet, weight, exercise and smoking.
In the study published by the Canadian Medical Association Journal, the researchers have assessed that had helped to improve the survival rates of women with breast cancer. Controlling weight gain seemed to have a deep impact in fighting breast cancer. The researchers claimed that just 30 minutes of moderate exercise, five days a week help women.
''Of all lifestyle factors, physical activity has the most robust effect on breast cancer outcomes," claimed study co-author, Dr. Ellen Warner, of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Warner further added that weight gain of over 10 percent body weight after weight cancer diagnosis, increased the mortality rate.
Dr. Warner also claimed there are reasons to discourage even the slightest weight gain due to its negative impact on body image and mood. According to CBC News, the study also claimed that two or three sessions of strength training are helpful. However, no specific diet type was shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence.
It was also unclear if stopping smoking after breast cancer diagnosis really prevented the recurrence; researchers claimed that the death risk due to smoking-induced reasons itself is a reason to quit. Dr. Warner mentioned that a lifestyle change offers a deep impact in the life of cancer diagnosed patients. Limiting one drink per day also helps reduce the return of breast cancer.
