Atmospheric Rivers Causing Deadly Storms Could Be Intensified By Climate Change, Recently Ended Drought In California!

It was said that atmospheric rivers could keep up to 15 times the volume of flowing water in the Mississippi River. This nature thing from the sky is thin hallways of condensed moisture stored in the atmosphere can cause dangerous weather.

Atmospheric rivers this winter ended the drought that hit some part of California. They are responsible for almost 75 percent of the entire hefty rainfall and extreme winds; atmospheric researchers of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory have learned.

To obtain further knowledge, Dr. Waliser studied 20 years of storm statistics around the world that were outside the tropical zone. Almost 30 to 50 percent cases of all powerful storms are correlated with atmospheric rivers, he revealed. The result from this research was initially published in the journal of Nature Geoscience.

Atmospheric rivers have the ability to pour hazards, including strong winds and other extremely dangerous conditions. However, they are also responsible for the weakest weather outbreaks, an atmospheric scientist, and lead researcher, Dr.Duane Waliser said.

The popular Sequoia 'Tunnel Tree' in California was destroyed when the Jan. 8 atmospheric river strikes the state. According to Science Alert, the normal wind of this incident is twice the speed of a regular storm.

Atmospheric rivers take place approximately 35 days in a year. Western Canada, New Zealand, Northern Europe, and southern South America are the extremely affected areas worldwide.

Between 1979 and 2003, it's nearly 19 of the most harmful and immense storms occurred in Europe. From that, 14 of them were associated to atmospheric river bustle. Dr. Waliser expounded that his upcoming plan is to discover if climate change will hasten the occurrence of atmospheric rivers.

Atmospheric rivers are naturally-occurring phenomena thus its critical drizzle episodes could be possibly intensified by climate change. In addition, this appears to be relatively true because of its evaporation degrees and stronger atmospheric water-holding capacity.
