Google's Pixel 2: Another Handset Expected to Arrive Soon; Device Will Sport Larger Screen, Better Specs Under the Hood
The successors of Google’s Pixel smartphones were already confirmed to arrive before 2017 comes to an end. But it appears that a third handset, which is a larger device, will be added in the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.
According to Droid Life, it was affirmed that another handset will arrive alongside Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. This additional device follows the current fad of a bigger smartphone. Its codename is Taimen, which indicates that consumers can expect it to be in a phablet size.
Google recently provided codenames for its first two reported 2017 Pixels. The Pixel 2, which is 5-inch, was allegedly labeled as Walleye. The 5.5-inch Pixel XL 2, on the other hand, was named Muskie.
Muskies is obviously a bit bigger than walleyes, but they’re smaller than Taimens, which can weigh over 220 Ibs. According to TechSpot, Google’s previous handset like the 2014 6-inch Nexus 6 was called Shamu. As that, it’s rational to expect the third Pixel to arrive with an almost the same 6-inch mark.
The Pixels of Google are reportedly taking a similar path as Apple. The giant tech company is allegedly be launching three iPhones this year. The 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch variants, which might be called the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus respectively will be joined by iPhone 8. It was priced at $1000 and is said to feature a 5.8-inch curved OLED screen.
Furthermore, the oversized model of Google's Pixel would as well compete against the forthcoming Galaxy S8 Plus. Tech tipster Evan Blass also disclosed in February that the largest among the two Samsung handsets would be measuring a massive 6.2-inch display.
Google will be showing off an improved smartphones as per the earlier speculations about Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Apart from that, the phones are likely to be waterproof or water-resistant alongside a stunning camera with an outstanding low-light skill.
