Research Reveals That Insomnia and Heart Attacks Are Closely Connected
The importance of sleep is paramount as while resting the body conducts biological recovery and rejuvenates itself. Insomnia is a conditioning effect the sleeping pattern where one either finds it hard to fall asleep or experiences broken sleep patterns. Insomnia is a well-known problem that has much negative impact on the body, but current research shows the link between Insomnia and heart attack and strokes are much closer than it was previously believed.
Studies had already shown that Insomnia affects the sleep pattern which in turn is symptomatic in causing lack of energy in the morning, lack of concentration and tiredness. Insomnia in some cases may also lead to depression and anxiety that can further trigger mental health disorder as well as drive substance abuse. Recent research looking deeper into the conditions of Insomnia finds sleep deprivation causes the change in metabolism and endocrine function, raises blood pressure, augments sympathetic activation and causes higher levels of pro-inflammatory and inflammatory cytokines. All these symptoms mentioned are directly linked with increasing chances of cardiovascular disease and stroke, reveals News 18.
According to Business Standard, the effects of Insomnia might be more potent for women than the male. This is because the genetics, sex hormones and reaction to stress in women are more complex than the male counterpart. Much attention needs to be paid to the problem of sleep deprivation, and sleep health is now becoming a significant scientific and medical discourse.
Less amount of sleep has always had the connection with poor health. Medical science advises at least six to eight hours of sleep a day, but the findings of the recent research pose an even more severe concern as the connection between sleep deprivation leading to heart attacks and strokes makes Insomnia a much deadlier problem than was previously assumed.
