Coachella 2015: Watermelon, a Hit at Music Fest; Bella Thorne Chows Down Fruit
Actress Bella Thorne was spotted at Coachella, a music festival that spans three days, enjoying a slice of watermelon while watching the featured performances of the day.
Foregoing her fork, the 17-year-old actress decided to enthusiastically chow down the piece of fruit to refresh herself with the sugary treat from the heat of the weather. Thorne was wearing a white top with Daisy Dukes and paired with brown cowboy boots as she strode around the lawn of the VIP area.
Her Coachella ensemble was accessorized with a brown leather belt, a choker necklace with several long necklaces while also wearing several bracelets, according to Daily Mail UK. Her look was completed with natural make-up and her long red hair curled in waves. She was seen with good friend Shamari Maurice throughout the three-day concert.
There is a good reason why eating watermelons is a great way to cool off from the heat. According to Live Science, watermelon yields plentiful health benefits aside from being a refreshing fruit.
True to its name, a watermelon is made up of approximately 92 percent water. Each fruit contains vitamins A, B6, and C. It also contains antioxidants, amino acids, lycopene, and medium amounts of potassium. It is considered a summer snack favorite and a friend to all who are into weight-loss as each slice is low in sodium, fat-free, and has only 40 calories a cup.
Good For the Heart
Lycopene helps lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, according to a study by Purdue University. The fruit also contains arginine, a nutrient that can help improve the flow of the blood and minimize fat accumulation. The American Journal of Hypertension also found that watermelon extracts can lower blood pressure and reduce hypertension in obese adults.
Good for Hydration
Since watermelon is mostly water, it keeps the body hydrated. According to WebMD, watermelons rank as the highest hydrating fruits in the planet.
Good for the Kidneys
According to Live Love Fruit, watermelon is considered to be a natural diuretic because it helps increase the flow of urine. Consuming watermelons can also help the liver in processing the ammonia from the body.
Good for Inflammation
Watermelon contains anti-inflammatory properties. It is also high in nutrients, such as flavanoids, triterpenoids, and carotenoids, which help in combatting free radicals that can cause cancer, according to Med-Health.
Good for Digestion
Watermelon is rich in fiber which helps in keeping the digestive tract healthy and keeping your bowel movement regular.
