Floyd Mayweather Jr's Pre-Fight Diet Revealed: Broccoli & Hotdogs with BBQ Sauce
Floyd Mayweather has taken his training to another level by paying his private chef $1000 a plate to prepare food for him. According to New York Magazine, Chef Quiana Jeffries, known as Chef Q, has had some difficulty adjusting to Mayweather Jr.'s "eccentric routines."
Jeffries says, "If Champ wants a meal at three, four, five, six in the morning, I have to be ready for that. He's called me at four and says, 'I want that oxtail." At that time, she immediately started working on a batch of oxtail stew smothered in gravy, reports NY Magazine.
The chef adds that her boss wants his food to be "all organic" which can be quite difficult to accomplish in Vegas. NY Magazine describes Mayweather's tastes as "eclectic." "He like things with a lot of flavor," says Chef Q.
One of the surprising foods Mayweather likes prepared by his personal chef is broccoli. "He loves broccoli. He loves it the way I make it," she says. Chef Q prepares broccoli for Mayweather by sauteeing the florets in butter and garlic, then dusting them with Cajun spices, reports NY Magazine.
One of Mayweather's favorite dishes, which was a little challenging for Chef Q, is fried hot dogs with barbecue sauce. However, she has stepped up to the challenge and made her boss' favorite dish healthy.
She explains how she makes Mayweather's favorite dish, saying, "I cut them longways, and fry them up in a little coconut oil."
As for the barbecue sauce, she says, "I spice up the barbeque sauce, too. I add oranges, orange zest, and other spices. He loves barbecue sauce. Everything with barbecue sauce. But that's life. You like what you know."
So that Chef Q can keep her boss happy and satisfied, she has become friends with night managers in the area, states Telegraph UK. "The seafood counters always close early," she explains.
According to the site, Chef Q's night manager friends have helped her retrieve some special ingredients whether it was day or night. "They all know who we work for," says Chef Q.
Chef Q primarily prepares Southern-Creole Cuisine, reports People. Telegraph reports that Mayweather loves her seafood gumbo. She can usually get the ingredients for her gumbo at any time of day, like king crab legs and shrimp, due to her night manager friends.
