Songs are proven to be therapeutic, and as it turns out, it did its part, together with the power of social media, in the cancer battle of 11-year-old Naomi Oakes.

Last June 25, Naomi was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), reports abc7.com. This type of leukemia requires aggressive chemotherapy treatments that would leave patients immunosuppressed. This means that they have to be isolated from the outside world as their immune system could hardly handle even the tiniest infection. Isolation would mean being away from the public for the rest of the therapy, and in Naomi's case, intense therapy was set for six to nine months.

As seen in the video above, Naomi was devastated to know that she won't be able to see the concert of her favorite artist, Taylor Swift, on August 18, 2105, at Phoenix, Arizona. Taylor's recent hitmaker, "Bad Blood" has become her battle song. In the hopes of getting the singer's attention, the hashtag #TeamNaomi was born.

Moreover, concerns of the impending rise of bills on therapy and hospitalization made Naomi's uncle create a GoFundMe account. Go Fund Me is a do-it-yourself fundraising website. In Naomi's Go Fund me Page, her uncle specifically set a goal of $30,000, but was not sure how much the expenses will grow in the coming months. He wrote, "We all know that the battle against cancer is a tough one, and it can be lengthy. This is especially true with Leukemia". The post ended with, "Go #teamnaomi."

With the power of social media, #goteamnaomi, reached Taylor and the generous singer donated $50,000 to GoFundMe and even gave Naomi a sweet message. Taylor wrote, "To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I'm sorry you have to miss it but there will always be more concerts. Let's focus on getting you feel better. I'm sending the biggest hugs to you and your family." You can visit Naomi's GoFundMe page by clicking on this link.

As of this writing, Naomi's GoFundMe page has already raised more than $70,000, alleviating the family of its problems on the huge medical bills. Taylor's sweet gesture has also made Naomi very happy, as she battles her "bad blood," so to speak, with her head held up high. The video below shows Naomi's reaction to the singer's message and donation.
