NBA Trade 2015 Rumors: Lakers Still Looking to Trade Nick Young?
With the NBA regular season just around the corner, Oct. 27 to be exact, continuous trade rumors are in the air, making fans speculate what will happen to their favorite ballers. Although most have died down, one Los Angeles Lakers player seems to be in the hot waters again, and it seems as if this time, fans will be looking at the truth.
NBC Sports has previously reported that the Lakers have bought in Lou Williams to fill in the sixth-man role, making Nick Young in trouble of getting traded off. However, it seems that the trade will not be happening soon because Young is still in the roster.
Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News has shared that Young has met with general manager Mitch Kupchak but it wasn't clear as to what the two has talked about. The only positive note seen is Young's big grin and feeling of confidence that he will enter the new season as part of the Lakers. Young still has three years and $15.3 million remaining on his contract. He can help the Lakers with his record of 13.4 points average per game.
The Bleach Report explains that one of the reasons Young's trade rumors is not dying down is because the Lakers just didn't score a good deal. Young is a volume shooter but he takes a lot of shots to do it plus he's at his 30s, making him a hard bargain for many teams who wish to build their defense from the bench. If the Lakers wish to keep many guards involved which will be led by Kobe Bryant, then Young's play will be reduced and his chance to prove himself lessened as well.
One more reason The Inquisitr sees why the team wishes to trade Young now than keep him is because his contract is still good for two season. In case Bryant retires, the Lakers will need to look for another free agent star to take his place. The team would need to free as much room and budget to go after basketball players like Kevin Durant to join the team.
Furthermore, having Williams, Bryant and Young in one team poses a bigger problem for the team as there is another Lakers rumors going on that Bryant is not a fan of Young's attention-seeking court behaviors. During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the star has given Young, Jordan Hill and Jeremy Lin the death stare after Kimmel showed him a clip of the trio crazily celebrating after an overtime win over the Celtics, as published by NBC Sports earlier this year.
So either way, fans and viewers may still continue to hear more rumors about Young being traded off but for now, he'll be playing with his #0 purple and yellow jersey for one more season.
