English singer-songwriter Jessie J is back in the limelight following her surgery for undisclosed reasons back in June. She was recently in San Francisco for Pop-Tarts' Crazy Good Summer program, for which she dropped a single alongside collaborators, Jhené Aiko and Rixton.

The powerhouse vocalist also just landed in Sydney to replace Kylie Minogue as a coach of The Voice. In a recent interview with People, Jessie J said of her role as a coach: "I don't see myself as any different from the contestants. I'm still a contestant in the industry: The industry is a show; it is a game...I just share my passion, my education, my sacrifice, my knowledge, my growth, my experience with [the contestants], and if it can help them in any way, then that to me is what a coach is: It's about imparting something that someone else hasn't experienced. They want to experience what I'm getting to experience, so I actually learn a lot from them as well."

Jessie J was also recently nominated for an MTV VMA for her collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, which resulted to the massive international radio hit, "Bang Bang."

The singer said: "You can never guarantee a reaction. You can do a song that you didn't ever think would do that well, and it happens overnight...it was No. 1 when we shot the video, so it was a whirlwind, but I felt very lucky to be a part of it, you know? I feel very honored that I could share my voice like that, with the world."

Jessie J, whose musical career began with writing songs for Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus, said that it was her sickness that drives her to work harder. Popcrush reports that when she was 17, she had a minor stroke and was also diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, a condition that causes irregular heartbeats and shortness of breath.

"There are things that make you become you and make you feel confident enough to do it and that was my thing," Jessie J said. "I started writing songs because that was my get-out of feeling unwell and down, and I’m still the same person."

When asked what else she wanted to pursue in the near future, the singer told People that she wanted to "have a baby," but not right now. She is currently dating singer Luke James, with whom her relationship was made public in November last year.

She told People: "I would love to build a school in Africa. I would love to write a book. My first-ever film that I've done is gonna be announced soon. There's loads of things I wanna do."
