Johnny Depp is known to be a versatile actor and all his roles have been memorable because he is known to put so much of himself into the characters that he play. Most of these characters are easily liked by the audience. However, in his new film "Black Mass," a very different Johnny Depp will be seen by the audience - someone who is seriously menacing and deadly evil.

From how he looked at the "Black Mass" poster that has been released last Wednesday, the 52-year-old actor is literally unrecognizable as he transforms himself into gangster James "Whitey" Bulger, The Daily Mail UK writes. Depp is seen standing with his arms folded, donning a scary and menacing stare while the Boston's skyline is highlighted in the background.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Black Mass is the true story of how Bulger became the most powerful man in Boston through his service as an FBI informant.

The movie will debut at the Venice Film Festival. Because of this, a new trailer has been released by the studio that showcases a meaner Bulger in action, with the star-studded cast including Jesse Plemons, Joel Edgerton and Benedict Cumberbatch. The movie will also feature Kevin Bacon, Adam Scott, Peter Sarsgaard, Juno Temple, Julianne Nicholson and Corey Stoll.

The Hollywood Reporter adds that the trailer is set to Yelawolf's "Till It's Gone" with Kevin Weeks, played by Plemons, recounting the rise of his ex-boss Bulger. Weeks go on to describe how Bulger's friends in the high places of the FBI has helped him succeed in becoming the scariest man to ever walk the place of Boston, thanks to FBI agent John Connolly, played by Joel Edgerton.

In the trailer, Weeks is caught saying, "The next thing you know, he's a damned kingpin and you know why? The FBI let it happen."

The film is directed by Scott Cooper which will open in theaters on Sept. 18.
