'I Am Cait' Recap: Caitlyn Jenner Helps Aspiring Nurse Blossom Brown Go to School
It would seem that even with all the money and support, Caitlyn is still having a hard time reconciling who she was, who she is becoming, and how to combine the two, explains Entertainment Weekly.
Several moments in this week's episode of "I Am Cait" reveal the the problems Caitlyn is going through after transitioning. It shows that being a transgender person does not end with surgery, but rather begins with it.
In the third episdoe of "I Am Cait," Caitlyn and her friends visit the Human Rights Campaign's Officies based in San Francisco, where they met other transgender women.
Caitlyn and her friends were particularly touched by Blossom Brown's story, a transgender woman who was not allowed to enter nursing school due to her sexual orientation. According to the Los Angeles Times, Brown has tried to get into nursing school six times, and was turned down each time.
"It bothers me to this day when I see those students that I went to school with in nursing shcool getting those degrees and the only reason that I didn't get in was because I'm trans," Brown told Caitlyn and her friends on the show, reports The Spec.
"I make straight A's, I work hard, stop looking on the outside and start looking on the inside and see that we want to be just normal people," added Brown.
Meeting Blossom made Caitlyn realize what a privileged and blessed life she has lead so far. It seems to have also inspired Caitlyn to help others, starting with Blossom herself.
After visiting the LGBT center, Caitlyn called for Andrea Metz, who is the executive producer of the show. Cait explained to Metz that she would like to pay for Blossom to go to nursing school. Caitlyn added that she would like Blossom's story featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, since Ellen is Blossom's inspriation.
"We're going to get her on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. I'm going to call Ellen. And she's going to go to nursing school. And we're going to pay for it. And we're not going to tell her until then," Caitlyn told Metz.
After solving Blossom's problems, Caitlyn had so resolve some of her own for the rest of the episode.
Througout the episode, Ronda Kamihara, Caitlyn's longtime friend and personal assistant, shares with the audience that Caitlyn seems to be forgetting her old life along with her old friends.
Jenny Boylan, a LGBT activist and one of Jenner's new friends, saw Ronda's dilemma and talked to Caity about it. Boylan explained to Cait that she is currently stuck in a "pink cloud," a place in which a person's happiness can blind them from seeing anything else, but their own happiness.
Boylan reminded Cait not to forget the people who have helped her in the past, which resulted in Caitlyn having a hear-to-heart with Ronda.
