'Arrow' Star Stephen Amell Set to Battle Stardust in SummerSlam! Get the Details Here
TV favorite Stephen Amell, who stars in The CW's Arrow, has made his wrestling dreams come true by booking a match with WWE's Stardust, IGN reports. Tension broke out between the 34-year old Canadian actor and Stardust, who is also known as Cody Rhodes, earlier this year when Amell was in New York City to film the sequel of the Michael Bay film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Amell was attending RAW at the Nassau Coliseum when Stardust confronted him in the audience.
Since then, Amell and Stardust had been bantering back and forth through social media. As a wrestling fan, the actor thought it was very cool. In fact, even his family thought it was great. He told USA Today: “My sister said to me a couple of weeks ago, ‘So a guy from the WWE is taking shots at you?’ And I was, ‘Yeah.’ She goes, ‘I knew you at a time where this would have made your head explode.’ And she was not kidding.”
Amell admitted that he was so delighted at this opportunity to be part of the WWE world, recalling his first wrestling event at the Maple Leaf Gardens in the 1980s, where Ultimate Warrior Randy "Macho Man" Savage and Jake "The Snake" Roberts would feud. Amell said: “I was fully engrossed at that point and I just remember sitting there being absolutely, utterly enthralled. That event could have been nine hours long and it wouldn’t have bothered me in the slightest.”
Amell added that he is a fan of Paul "Triple H" Levesque, who has now moved on to be a WWE executive. “I’ve seen probably every one of his Wrestlemania matches. I’m sure that with no wrestling background whatsoever that Triple H and I could go out and have a match and it would look pretty good.”
After Amell's appearance this week at WWE Raw, where he bravely tackled Stardust, Triple H made the actor's dreams come true by giving him a match at SummerSlam, where he will officially go up against Stardust. Fans have to watch out for the match, where Amell teams up with Neville to battle it out with Stardust ad King Barrett.
Fans can also catch Amell as he returns as Oliver Queen in the fourth season of Arrow. Although premiere date has not yet been released, details have been hinted at. TV Guide reports that a new villain in the form of Damien Darhk (played by Neal McDonough) will be introduced in the highly anticipated fourth season of Arrow, and that Oliver and Felicity's third season happy ending may be short lived for the moment.
Additionally, Amell's role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is definitely an interesting one, as his role as Casey Jones may play as a love interest for Megan Fox's April O'Neill, Cinemablend reports. The film is set to be released in June 2016.
