Star Wars fans got a little treat yesterday, when Entertainment Weekly released 12 photos featuring the Dark Side of "Star Wars 7."

According to Games Zone, one of the photos is from the trailer, but the others are from events that fans may not have been able to attend. Among the pictures were shots of Star Wars 7's new villains including Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and General Hux.

Kylo Ren will be played by Adam Driver from "Girls," while "Game of Thrones" star, Gwendolin Christie, will be playing Captian Phasma, shares Business Insider. Additionally, General Hux will be played by British actor Domhnall Gleeson, who was Bill Weasley in the "Harry Potter" movies.

Entertainment Weekly was kind enough to include the origin stories for each of the villains, all of which are to make their debut appearance in the upcoming film, reports Rappler.

First up is Captain Phasma. According to Business Insider, Captain Phasma is a First Order Warrior. The First Order is basically the remains of the Empire. In the photos, he can beseen wearing a steal stormtrooper helmet, carrying what seems like a futuristic sniper rifle.

Next is the leader of the First Order, General Hux. Entertainment Weekly describes him as a cruel leader, "who craves to show the galaxy his might."

Last, but not least is Kylo Ren, who seems to have the most interesting origin story of them all. Kylo Ren is not part of the First Order, but is its ally. As seen on the pictures, his overall appearance is reminiscent of Darth Vader.

Kylo Ren is not his real name, revealed director JJ Abrams. According to the director, Ren adopted the name after joing the Knights of Ren. Abrams adds that Ren is a complex character.

Lawrence Kasdan, the screenwriter who has written all four of the Star Wars movies, states that Ren is a unique character with no likeness to previous characters in the franchise.

In one of the photos, he is seen striking a menacing pose, while holding his three-way lightsaber. In another, he can be seen walking away from a burning village in front of two stormtroopers.
