Donald Trump's immigration plan includes a wall built along the southern border
Donald Trump recently revealed his plans for illegal immigration, which included building a wall along the southern border and making the Mexican government pay for it. CNN describes Trumps plan as a comprehensive account of how the billionaire real estate mogul would handle the issue of illegal immigration.
The detailed plan focuses on three core principles, including:
1. A Nation without borders is not a nation.
2. A nation without laws is not a nation.
3. A nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation.
The first core principle suggests that a wall be built to prevent illegal immigrants from Mexico and other Latin American countries from entering the country. Trump proposes that Mexico pay for the wall, as the country supposedly makes a significant profit from illegal immigration.
The frontrunner of the Republican party suggests several ways to force Mexico into paying for the wall, including: impounding remittances that illegal immigrants send to relatives back home, increasing the fees of temporary visas meant for Mexican CEOs and diplomats and raising the costs of all border crossing cards, among others.
Meanwhile, the second core principle addresses the issue of what to do with illegal immigrants already living within United States borders. Among the several policies, Trump will enforce is nationwide e-verify, which he claims will protect job slots for unemployed Americans.
In addition, Trump plans to send all illegal immigrants, despite good standing records, back to their home countries. According to MSN, during an interview on "Meet the Press" Trump says, "We have to keep the families together, but they have to go."
The billionaire businessman adds that all "bad" illegal immigrants will not be allowed back into the country, while the "good ones" will be allowed to return through an expedited process.
Trump also plans to end birthright citizenship, quoting Harry Reid as saying that "no sane country" would ever offer automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.
The third part of Trumps plan centers on the job market and increasing the availability of jobs in America for its citizens. He includes several specific long-term reform policy proposals into his plan, which he believes is necessary in order to boost the job market for Americans.
According to ABC News, Trump promises to end welfare support for all legal immigrants entering the Unites States. He explains that applicants who wish to enter the country must prove that they can pay for their own basic necessities, like housing and healthcare.
In addition, Trump plans to force American companies into hiring from the pool of employees already residing within the country by raising the minimum wage required to hire people abroad.
