'Vampire Diaries' season 7 spoilers & plot updates: Is a baby vampire in the works?

Congratulations are in order for Candice Accola-King, the actress behind the spirited Caroline Forbes on CW's "The Vampire Diaries," as TV Guide reports that the 28-year-old is pregnant. King posted a photo of herself with her husband, musician Joe King, and his two daughters, Ava and Elise. This is the first child for Candice and her husband.

"Sometimes a Saturday is best spent painting t-shirts and taking an awesome family photo. Happy Monday everybody! #ThatAintNoBurritoinMyBelly," Accola-King captioned the Instagram photo.

"Production has known about our exciting news and there’s been a lot of support," King spoke of The Vampire Diaries team in an interview with TV Line.

Fans of the show then began to speculate if King's pregnancy will be written into the show. E! Online asked the actress on her thoughts about Caroline and Stefan child-rearing adults, and she said: "They'd be very quick parents. I think with vamp speed, that would definitely help with diaper changes. I don't know if they'd compel a baby not to cry? I don't know if that's cool for vampire parents to do."

Paul Wesley, who plays the sensitive Stefan Salvatore, said of Caroline and Stefan's theoretical child: "They'd send him to private boarding school way far away so they never had to deal with him."

When asked if they think the baby would be written into the show, Ian Somerhalder, who plays the dashing and devious Damon Salvatore, said: "I'm assuming so. One would only hope so, because I think that might be hard to explain."

Additionally, Somerhalder thinks "Stefan would be a good dad, focusing all his energy on that kid. He'd grow up to be a sensitive, smart ripper."

TV Line spoke to Accola-King about the future of Caroline in the upcoming 7th season of Vampire Diaries, and she admitted: "Caroline has, so far, been a really big part of the season. Every single season, we think we know the way it’s going to go, but it always changes by the end. It could really go anywhere."

She added: "We’re going to see Caroline get her bite back. We’ll see her coming in as a badass, and sometimes she might act without thinking things totally through."

But when it comes to Caroline's possible pregnancy, King said: "Julie [Plec] and Caroline [Dries] are the best people to ask about [whether or not her pregnancy will be written into the show.] To be honest, I’m along for the ride just like the viewers are."
