'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 spoilers, news & update: Penny and Leonard gets married
Penny looks pretty in pink as she becomes Mrs. Hofstadter in the newest season of the show.
In the last season's finale, we were left with a cliffhanger of Leonard (played by John Galecki) and Penny (played by Kaley Kuoco-Sweeting) eloping to Las Vegas to tie the knot. The Hollywood Reporter published Penny and Leonard's wedding photos and it seems that the two are officially married.
The outlet revealed exclusive photos of the couple's Las Vegas wedding with Penny dressed in pink and Leonard in a tux in front of an officiator at a chapel.
"The Big Bang Theory" is a nerdy comedy show by Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Bill Prady. In an interview for season 9, Molaro confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that Penny is officially Mrs. Hofstadter but Leonard's "friend" named Mandy (played by Melissa Tang) from his North Sea expedition whom he kissed and confessed to Penny about will be making an appearance and will be making waves in the couple's first few days of newly wedded bliss.
"Chuck and I had a long talk about [revealing the wedding before the premiere] and my fear was that it was going to start sounding like they didn't [get married]," Molaro told the outlet. That was not a positive message - and we didn't want fans to feel like, 'Oh, they're going to pull the rug again and not do it.' There is so much more story beyond that moment that we decided to just let people know."
In the interview, Molaro revealed that Mandy's reintroduction in season 9 will wreak havoc on Penny and Leonard's upgraded relationship and that it's not something that will entirely go away after a few episodes. Additionally, the season will also be featuring Penny's dad, Wyatt (played by Keith Carradine) who will be surprised of the marriage.
As for Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons), the new couple will have to console him in the next few episodes.
"Living arrangements are definitely going to be confronted in the first four episodes. It's tricky, sure -- Leonard and Penny need to move forward, but at the same time we have a broken-hearted Sheldon, who is sort of their little brother and child and it's tough to ignore that for them," Molaro said, in a report by ABC News.
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will premiere on Sept. 21, Monday, 8 pm on CBS.
