'America's Next Top Model' host Tyra Banks reveals fertility issues and undergoing IVF
Tyra Banks openly reveals her struggle with infertility and her dream of having a big family in an interview.
Banks and Chrissy Teigen get personal in a segment for the new show "FABLife." In the report by Huffington Post, the two talked about the issues that women face today such as the decision to have or not to have kids.
Teigen opened up about her personal struggles with partner John Legend and how their longevity as a couple comes with certain expectations. She explained that she finds people who ask about whether or not they were having kids to be unpleasant as they do not know if a woman is having fertility issues or not. Right after Teigen, Banks also revealed that she has wanted to have kids for many years.
"I just feel like we're so hard on each other and judgmental of each other. And a woman who is divorced three times is more normal than a woman who has not been married," Banks emotionally said. "I'm so tired of seeing on my social media, 'Why don't you have kids?' You don't know!"
Banks is dating photographer boyfriend Erik Asla for two years. She is currently 41 years old and regrets that she has not pursued having kids sooner.
"Since I was 24, I used to say every year, 'I will have kids in three years,'" the supermodel said, according to the report by People. "I kept saying it over and over again. Because my business is very entrepreneurial. I'm not for hire, so I have to do everything. I kept trying to find that time for that to happen."
The report revealed that Banks has had to go through in vitro fertilization (IVF) so she can have children. Furthermore, Banks revealed that the procedure "traumatized" her somehow and that age can be against a woman as it lessens her chance of conceiving.
The "America's Next Top Model" creator also revealed that she wants to have more than one child and that she would be the kind of mother her children can count on.
ET Online revealed that Banks has been mothering young supermodels including Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss. She told the outlet that they meet from time to time to catch up on their plans for their careers and then talk about it when they've done what they wanted to do.
According to Cosmopolitan, "FABLife" is Banks' second go at daytime television. The talk show is a panel comprised of Teigen, Joe Zee, Lauren Makk and Leah Ashley. The show just recently premiered Monday on ABC.
