One of the best moments in this year's Emmy Awards was when Tracy Morgan graced the stage for the first time since a devastating accident in June 2014 that left him in a coma and claimed the life of his friend, comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair. Morgan presented the award for Best Drama Series to "Game of Thrones," Rolling Stone reports.

"Last year, Jimmy Kimmel said on stage 'I'll see you next year,'" Morgan said during his speech. "Thanks to my doctors and my beautiful wife, I'm here standing on my own two feet."

The former "30 Rock" star told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview, "This was my publicist Lewis Kay's idea. He said, 'What you want to do is let Hollywood welcome you home.' And I loved that idea. I loved the idea of getting back with my community, the show business community. I loved it."

The Saturday Night Live alum is also set to host one of the upcoming season's early episodes, and Morgan said, "It means everything. A month and a half ago, I was speaking to Lorne Michaels. I love Lorne Michaels like I love my dad. I'm very close to him. The conversation got kind of emotional, and I said, 'Lorne, I want to come home.' And he said, 'The door's open.'"

The 46-year-old actor is also in talks to star in New Line Cinema's Fist Fight, which features Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Charlie Day, and Straight Outta Compton's Ice Cube, Cinema Blend reports. The film, directed by Richie Keen and written by Van Robichaux and Evan Susser, follows two polar-opposite high school teachers who later get themselves into a fight. The film's cast is also joined by Breaking Bad's Dean Norris and Jillian Bell.

Morgan told THR that the support he received following the accident helped inspire him to continue doing comedy and making people laugh. He said, "Now I just want to show my comedy because that's my way of giving back...this is my way of saying, 'Thank you for your support, and I love you.' And then we can get back to business, and we get back to making the world laugh. That's what I learned from Lorne Michaels."

Morgan also confirmed that the comedy project he is developing with FXX is still in the works, Screencrush reports. He said, "We will do it. As long as I got a breath in my body, we will do it. I will conspire to make [people] laugh forever."
