With the nearing release of "Halo 5: Guardians," Microsoft Studios releases its latest trailer which shows the death of Master Chief (Spartan John-117).
The live-action trailer which debuted NBC Sunday Night Football for the new game reveals that the Master Chief has perished while on duty.
"On October 27th, 2560, Spartan 117, the man most commonly known as the Master Chief, died in the line of duty," the trailer says. "Out of respect to those who may have lost loved ones in the event, we are holding back the complete account."
According to the report by Entertainment Weekly, the announcement of the Chief's death on Oct. 27, 2560 is a bit suspicious since it is the same day that the Guardians arrive but a hundred years in the future. In the trailer we see a collapsing building and Master Chief in view who is buried under rubble. However, the report by iDigital Times also shares the suspicion since the "complete account" is not shared, how do we know that Master Chief is really dead?
According to Cinema Blend, the latest "Halo 5: Guardians" trailer is "ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) spreading propaganda" because for those familiar with the novels, "Because the UNSC (United Nations Space Command) was never supposed to state that a Spartan "died" on the battlefield." They were labeled "missing in action" instead of "killed in action" so as not to lower the morale of Spartan soldiers and keep them fighting.
Furthermore, the article revealed that Halo 5 will be doubly long as the campaign of Halo 4 because of dual campaigns. According to Screen Rant, the players will have three separate worlds: Human, Covenant and Forerunner. The campaign can be played in single player, coop with up to 4 players or with A.I. partners.
Halo 5 also has "Warzone," a multiplayer mode that makes use of the internet. According to the official website for the game:
"Warzone is a brand new, massive-scale multiplayer mode that supports 24-player battles with both friendly and enemy AI constantly dropping in to mix up the experience. It's nonstop action when you confront Spartans, Covenant, and Forerunners, all while trying to complete a variety of objectives."
In the "Warzone," players must conquer a base to make camp. To prevent spamming, the players will need to build up energy for REQ which will be generated as rewards for actions such as conquering a base or a substation.
"Halo 5: Guardians" is scheduled to be released on Xbox One on retail disc and download on Oct. 27.
