Lamar Odom was found unresponsive Tuesday in a Nevada brothel. According to Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly, Odom was using cocaine on Saturday and when he was found by the brothel's employees four days later, the ex-NBA player was found lying on his side on his bed with a strange fluid on his mouth and nose, CNN reports. After he was taken to a hospital in Las Vegas, a blood sample has been taken from Odom to be submitted for testing to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police laboratory.
According to TMZ, Odom is in a coma and currently breathing through a machine. He is in critical condition and his heart is having problems. A source also told the outlet that the former NBA player has is developing trouble in his lungs and kidneys. A source told E! Online that Odom suffered from an "ischemic stroke" which is often indicative of substance abuse especially cocaine where the user may likely sustain brain damage.
Odom's wife, Khloe Kardashian will be making medical decisions for him. The two are still legally married despite signing the required paperwork in July to finalize their split. However, the divorce has not been finalized yet.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Kardashian arrived at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas on Tuesday and stayed to where Odom is. Mum Kris Jenner and sister Kim Kardashian was also there.
"Everyone has dropped everything to get there. There are a lot of calls and texts going back and forth as everyone is figuring out how they can help and be there for each other," the source told PEOPLE. "They are asking their close friends to pray for Lamar, for healing and strength. There is confusion about his condition, and they don't know the extent of his injuries, but I'll tell you this: they wouldn't just drop everything unless it was serious. The family has been told that this isn't just a minor thing; that it was extremely serious."
Kardashian married Odom on Sept. 27, 2009 to which the Daily Mail describes as a following a "whirlwind romance," a month after they met each other. After four years of marriage, Kardashian filed for divorce in Dec. 2013 after the NBA star admitted to cheating on his wife and rumors of substance abuse.
