'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' release date, news & update: Lionsgate cancels red carpet press interviews in Los Angeles in wake of Paris attacks

The press interviews on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of "Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" which was to be held on Monday has been suspended in the wake of the Paris attacks.

The movie's studio announced that the red carpet will still be taking place but some press are cancelled, according to Los Angeles Times.

"Out of respect for the very recent events in Paris, we have decided to modify our red carpet and we will not conduct interviews at Monday's 'Mockingjay 2' premiere," Lionsgate said in a statement. "We will proceed with the rest of the event as planned in honor of the incredible fans who have always supported our films with such passion."

The outlet adds that some of the scenes of the "Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" was filmed in Paris with some shot in Germany and Atlanta.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there will likely be no press interviews on the red carpet. The cancelled interviews would have been 2 hours long as scheduled. This means that main stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and others will head to the screening in Los Angeles after taking photos and taking signatures or selfies with the fans. The afterparty will go as planned at L.A. Live's event deck.

The "Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" is the epic finale for the four-part movie based off on Suzanne Collins' book trilogy of the same name. We will learn how Katniss, together with her friends Peeta, Gale and Finnick will come out of their mission to assassinate President Snow. We will also see the final performance of Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee in the film. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the actor died on Feb. 2014 during the filming of the last movie from a drug overdose.

A series of terror attacks in Paris killed more than 120 people and injured hundreds of others last Friday.

Entertainment Weekly reports that some music and film events have been cancelled altogether last weekend. A film by Steven Spielberg "Bridge of Spies" was canceled which was supposed to premiere on Sunday. Natalie Portman's "Jane Got a Gun" which was to premiere on Monday was also cancelled. The band US canceled their weekend concerts in Paris and Foo Fighters cancelled all of their remaining tour dates as well.

The "Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" movie will open on Nov. 20, Fri. in the US.
