One of the highlights of the trailer above are the events leading to the division of the heroes, and while it is easy to choose between Team Captain America (Chris Evans) or Team Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Panther sort of volleys in between.
According to Cinema Blend, when the concept art of the ruler of Wakanda was released, it would imply that he is on Tony Stark's side and it isn't clear why this is so. It seems that the Black Panther has something against Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).
The website says that Black Panther is seeking revenge against Bucky involving his father T'Chaka when he was mind-controlled by HYDRA. Although Bucky will try to redeem himself, a lot of obstacles will inevitably get in the way as he unknowingly made a lot of enemies during his time as an assassin.
While we clearly see in the trailer that Bucky has been had with a spin kick to his face by T'Challa, Boseman teases why his character wants Bucky's head.
"Ultimately some sides are taken, but I think the trick of the movie is for no one to be blindly following," Boseman said, in an interview by Entertainment Weekly. "Everybody is actually on their own side, in truth."
As for Black Panther's power, he does not rely solely on his strength. Boseman adds that his character has various fighting styles that mix the agility of some animals including a cat's and capoeira.
"The key with T'Challa is to keep everybody on their toes. It's to do the thing that is surprising, that you wouldn't expect," Boseman explains. "So there's a lot of agility and a lot of, like, 'Why did he do that? Oh now I know why he did that. He was gonna come over here after he did that.' I wouldn't say he's a ninja, but he does employ some of those aspects as well."
As for T'Challa's personality, he is rather reserved and mysterious as well as anyone might expect of an African nation prince who has been passed down a secret identity that has been in the family for generations, the Black Panther.
"I think this is something true of the comic book character and the movie. You never quite know where he stands. There's always a bit of concealing and mystery," Boseman says, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
"There definitely is a sort of tradition that he's torn between, in terms of how things were done in the past and how things need to happen now in this new world," he explained. "And then there's also a need to live up to traditions and his father's legacy. And not even his father's legacy, but the entire nation of Wakanda."
"Captain America: Civil War" will be in theaters on May 6. 2016.
