Fans of the well-loved game are in for a treat as Square Enix's "Final Fantasy 7" remake has been remastered and upgraded to real-time combat. Watch a non-pixelized Cloud Strife in the latest trailer for the game.

Square Enix revealed the gameplay trailer during the 2015 PlayStation Experience event over the weekend. "Final Fantasy VII" Remake is a PS4 exclusive and one of the most dramatic changes of the game are the CGI cutscenes with Cloud Strife, the main hero of the game in clearer resolution.

Another notable difference is the combat system where the remake uses real time combat instead of the traditional command-based battle system where the original game which released in 1997 used. According to Mirror, some fans were upset but the game developers released a statement to assuage some concerns.

"The previous Final Fantasy VII was a command-based RPG that utilized active-time-battle. Real-time and GMC are the trends these days, said Yoshinori Kitase, producer, to Nova Crystallis. "I can't say the new game is completely action-based, but it has more of that element and real-time than the previous game.

"However, what makes Final Fantasy and RPG different from other games is that the players have the ability to choose weapons, capabilities and magic to be strategic minded, so while the new game has more real-time element, it will also maintain that strategy building element, balancing these two factors perfectly to enhance the gaming experience."

Another thing notable about the remake is it will be released in multiple parts. A recent press release noted by Kotaku reveals that the new game might be episodic and this might mean that players may need to pay to see more content.

"FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience," part of the press release stated.

For change-resistant fans, they can play the original PS1 game on PS4 as Sony has re-released it so it can be played on more modern consoles, Forbes reports. It launches today via the PlayStation Store and gamers can earn Trophies as they progress through the game. It comes with a freebie as well, according to the PlayStation blog. Gamers who will buy the game will receive a custom Theme with Cloud standing over Midgar.

It is not yet known when the FF7 Remake will be launched but according to rumors the game might be released in 2017, 20 years after the release of the original PS1 game.
