Capcom has released a brand new character for "Street Fighter 5" and his name is F.A.N.G., a poison user.
The reveal was made during the press conference at the Sony's 2015 PlayStation Experience event in San Francisco. F.A.N.G. is a deceptive martial artist who uses poison attacks. According to Uber Gizmo, his main attacks are "Nishodoku," a projectile with poison and "Dokunoumu" a poison cloud that surrounds F.A.N.G's body.
Producer Yoshinori Ono expressed that he was glad that they were able to release F.A.N.G. without leaks, reports Venture Beat.
Six other characters were also confirmed during the event: Alex, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri, Urien and Guile. They will be released post-launch and will be earned for free with "Fight Money" via gameplay or when purchasing the 2016 Season Pass to get all of them right away. The Season Pass is $29.99 and it comes with a new theme for PS4 owners. The game and the pass are available for pre-orders in North America.
A new beta testing period for the game has been announced by Capcom. According to Game Spot, the beta period for both PS4 and PC players will start on Dec. 18 at 12:01 US time and end on Dec. 20 at 10 PM. This means that players will be able to play together cross-platform.
The beta test will include the following features:
- Ranked Match - players can rank themselves by skill
- Casual Match - players can play without pressures of ranking
- Training - players can "play" against training dummies
- Capcom Fighters Network (CFN) - players can look at leaderboard rankings, rivals and other information on other players
- Battle Setting - players can look at their character profiles and other options
- Options - players can adjust screen and sound settings
In an interview with GS, Ono reveals that their aim for the new game is to level the playing field "as humanly possible" for both old and new gamers.
"We wanted to make it so that almost everything you learned in the previous title got thrown out the window—at least as much as humanly possible," Ono said. "In doing so, we ended up narrowing the gap between really strong players and new players. It's a very small gap now."
Ono adds that the in-game V-Systems will test the hide of players when it comes to how they use the system to their advantage as a fighter.
"Street Fighter 5" will be available for PS4 on Feb. 16, 2016, and the PC version will be coming in the spring.
