Game developer Techland says that the upcoming DLC "Dying Light: The Following Story" will feature an even bigger map and a storyline where Kyle Crane will find out how the zombie apocalypse began and how it will end.
The expansion, "The Following" will be released on Feb. 9, 2016, and will feature a new storyline that occurs after the original game. Kyle Crane and his group find a map and way out of Harran and happen on a new territory where a dangerous group lurks about with knowledge of how the zombie outbreak began.
Watch the trailer below:
"Hard-pressed by the circumstances, Crane leaves the city walls and travels to a remote region taken over by a mysterious group whose intentions are not readily clear. The rumor of a way out turned out true but does a potential cure really exist out here or is it all smoke and mirrors?," the story trailer by Techland states.
According to Tech Times, the trailer starts with a quote from "Frankenstein" which seems to insinuate that the zombie virus is made by man. In the trailer, a sick man holds a map to what is believed to be a way out of Harran which is on lockdown. The group is running low on the anti-zombie drug, Antizin, which means they need to move to look for more. The outlet adds that the group might encounter a group who knows about the start of the zombie infestation and "domesticated zombies" plus other new elements as they travel.
For gameplay, the DLC will reintroduce vehicles for characters to ride in. However, parkour will still be an essential part of the game.
"There are areas of the map where parkour is still essential and a key tool to your survival," said game producer Tymon Smektala to WCCF Tech. "We know fans loved the parkour, so we're making sure it's still a crucial element. The dirt buggy is something new when it comes to getting around while parkour will be the familiar favorite."
"Dying Light: The Following" will be released next year for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It is priced at $20 and is included in the "Dying Light Season Pass" and the "Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition."
According to Express, the expansion pack will include bonuses such as The Bozak Horde mode, the Be the Zombie mode, the Cuisine & Cargo challenge missions, the Ultimate Survivor Bundle, plus all content updates.
"We're adding bonus post-game content, a Nightmare difficulty level, nearly 100 new animations, new NPC models, advanced AI behaviors, and more. One year after the original release, Dying Light will be even bigger," said lead game designer Maciej Binkowski.
