A young Scottish woman reportedly lost 84 pounds after documenting her weight loss journey on Instagram.

Ashleigh Munn of Greenock, Scotland weighed up to 16 stones when she got pregnant and delivered her daughter Mya in January 2014. In the report by Daily Star, it was revealed that she indulged in junk fatty foods when she discovered she was carrying her first child with partner David Barclay.

"David and I would stuff ourselves with pre-packaged meals and fry-ups and Iceland was my 'go-to' shop," she shared. "I'd buy toad-in-the-holes, frozen curries, chips, onion rings, sausage rolls, and pies - nothing good for you.

"There was never a vegetable in my diet, and the only thing I could cook was pasta."

It reportedly got to the point where she was advised to use crutches to keep her ballooning weight off her pelvis and hip bones.

The 24-year-old decided to lose weight after it was discovered that there was a very big cyst on her ovary. Munn was rushed to the hospital after experiencing stomach cramps and it was then how the cyst was discovered. She had to undergo emergency operation to remove it in November 2014.

After her surgery, Munn documented her weight loss on Instagram as well as follow accounts of healthy foods and some fitness gurus to inspire her. The single mum reveals that the mobile app is her photo diary. She posted everything she ate to track her eating habits and then her confidence grew when she received support from the online community after posting her weight loss progress.

"I followed a fitness guru on Instagram who posts mini video clips teaching others how to cook healthily," she said, as reported by Daily Mail. "I started tracking vegetarian recipe accounts, as they always looked so colourful, and soon turned vegetarian.

"David has recently turned vegetarian and he is joining the gym next week.

"Soon, I became obsessed with commenting on people's amazing meals, asking how they had made them and trying all sorts out, and decided to make Instagram my food diary."

Her partner David also joined in on her mission. Ashleigh lost around 84 pounds and now currently weighs 10 stones and 5 pounds after a year. David dropped from 15 stones to 11 stones and 7 pounds in six months, according to Mirror.

The family wants to keep their progress up by making and eating healthy meals with varied fruits and veggies. They also make homemade tortilla wraps and pizzas from scratch. Ashleigh is thankful for David and his support for without him; she would not have made the transition.
