Popular third-person ink shooter video game by Nintendo, "Splatoon" received its final update last month. However, there might be something new in store for the game and for fans to look forward to.
According to Game Spot, the final map Ancho-V Games was released last month and the final weapon, the Custom Hydra Splatling was released a week before it.
Game producer Hisoshi Nogami spoke during the Splatoon Koshien 2016 finals and confirmed that there may be new content on the way as a way of thanking fans for all the support they gave. As to what the content may be, there have been rumors and speculations that it may be a new weapon, new playable characters, and even a new map. The upcoming new content or DLC may also come for free as well.
"I know we announced that the content updates were going to end in January, but it's possible we might be able to do something more in the future," Nogami said, as translated and reported by Attack of the Fanboy. "Just please give us some time. We hope you'll continue to enjoy Splatoon and the Squid Research Lab!"

In other news, a new "Splatoon" amiibo may be on its way, according to IGN. The game only has three amiibo out but Nintendo may be adding two more figures for Callie and Marie.
According to Nintendo Everything, a Twitter user by the name of Nikki who has a reputation for revealing new content for "Splatoon" has tweeted that the Squid Sisters may be coming to amiibo soon.

In addition to "AmiiboModelF," "AmiiboModelM" and "AmiiboModelS," Nikki found "AmiiboIdolA" and "AmiiboIdolB" within the game's files. This could be pertaining to the two sisters and may come soon as the files were included in the latest update.
The Squid Sisters Callie and Marie recently "performed" live in concert over the weekend during the Game Party in Japan. The Nintendo Insider reports that the idol sisters belted their songs which were written by Yusuke Amano and Tsubasa Sakaguchi as part of an exclusive soundtrack for Wii U. The concert was live streamed on Niconico Douga, Japan's version of YouTube.
