After the success of "Fast and Furious 7," Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his team will soon return to the big screens. New reports claimed that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, just confirmed his return for "Fast and Furious 8."
Enstarz reported that Johnson confirmed his involvement in "Fast 8" via an Instagram post. The actor announced that his plate is full for 2016 with four projects on the way including "Ballers," "Baywatch," "Rampage" and "Fast and Furious 8."
Aside from sharing his projects, the former professional wrestler also revealed his preparation for his upcoming films. Johnson practices hard-core training with his coach Hany Rambod. They keep it balance with smart diet and conditioning. The actor has to wake up at 4 a.m. daily to train but he has no issues with it because he is determined to stay at the top of the business.
Per the report, Johnson has clearly stated his interests in reprising his role as agent Luke Hobbs in "Fast 8." In an interview with Collider, the actor expressed his great confidence in his character and that it would be pivotal in the upcoming flick. "Of course. It can't go on without Hobbs," he said.
He also shared his perspective about a potential spin-off relating to his character, with Hobbs being the protagonist. "We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we'll see," Johnson said. "I still think for me personally, we've created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That's my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input."
Johnson revealed that he talked with actor-producer Diesel about raising the bar for "Fast 8" in terms of action, story and character.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that Kurt Russell will return with a bigger role. CinemaBlend reported that Diesel disclosed some interesting details about "Fast and Furious 8" in one of the press rounds for "Furious 7." Per the report, Russell's character, the shadowy government agent only known as Mr. Nobody might play a more important role in the next film.
Diesel revealed that Russell was hired for "Furious 7" with the intention of "beefing up his presence in future arcs."
There are also speculations that another familiar face will return in "Fast and Furious 8." If the next installment would include more government involvement, then it is plausible that Eva Mendes will also reprise his role as U.S. Customs Agent Monica Fuentes.
Well, let us see how things would go.
"Fast and Furious 8" is slated for release on April 14, 2017.
