Tom Cruise plays as the longest-lived person in the new 'Methuselah' action movie

Tom Cruise will play the lead in the Methuselah movie. Methuselah was a biblical character who lived for 969 years as stated in the Hebrew Bible.

The action-packed Methuselah movie may be directed by Joachim Ronning, well-known for co-directing the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales and the Kon-Tiki. Meanwhile, Tom Cruise committed himself to the project, which was scripted by Zach Dean, according to A.V. Club. Warner Bros and Harry Potter producer David Heyman will work on the Methuselah movie.

Some sources said that the script will be sent out to some A-list writers for a draft. Then, rewrite and once Tom Cruise-approved they will move forward.

Meanwhile, more on the background of Methuselah, which is reported to have lived at the age of 969 based on the Hebrew Bible. He died seven days before the beginning of the Great Flood. He was the son of Enoch, the father of Lamech and the grandfather of Noah.

Methuselah is known to have a great sword, which is also referred to as the Sword of Methuselah that overpowers evil and ghosts. In the 17th century Midrashic Sefer haYashar or Book of Jasher, it describes Methuselah together with his grandson Noah as persuading the people to return to godliness. God had promised Methuselah that he would not be killed with the unrighteous, that is why he died before the flood, according to Wikipedia.

In the movie Methuselah, it will depict Methuselah as a man who lived for about 1,000 years without aging, all while creating a set of incomparable survival skills. This will be played by Tom Cruise, who is a suitable to play the character of Methuselah for having a good physical condition at the age of 54.
