IVF Lab Went Wrong; 26 Dutch Women Fertilized Eggs With Strangers Sperm

The Dutch infertility clinic study went wrong that resulting for 26 women to fertilized the sperm cell from a wrong man. Now, couples profess for UMC action regardless of the "procedural error" and were able to conduct an investigation after the incident.
According to Fox News, the University Medical Centre already informed the couples and asking for their consent to explain their accordance very soon. The center already complained about a probability that the egg fertilized the sperm was not for the prospected father.
The occurrence of mixed-up sperm was suspected to happen at the Utrecht UMC between the current and previous procedure. The process was called intracytoplasmic sperm injection where the single sperm is injected immediately to egg cell that will be done at IVF lab.
Probably, the main cause of the error was lying over with the lab technician who has the authority to do the procedure.The technician failed to remember that the rubber top on the pipette was needed to change in new procedures.
The spokesman of the hospital, Mr. Paul Geurts reject for some punishment issues to the technician who mistakenly used the old pipette with the previous sperm. He added that it was "an unfortunate event."
This process was used between April 2015 and the mid of November 2016 that connect with the 26 couples. According to Yahoo, there are reports saying that 9 of the injected sperm had children and four of it are recently pregnant while thirteen couples have their frozen embryos at the hospital.
In the statement addressed by Mr. Geurts, the UMC undoubtedly regret the circumstances on what happened to somewhat upset couples who getting involved to this matter. The hospital provides counseling to couples and a meeting with the medical staff to discuss the commotion.
In Netherlands, there are 7,600 procedures that have been conducted every year and this case was very rare to happen stated by Jesper Smeenk, representative of the Dutch Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
