Nintendo Switch Sold Out At GameStop, Other Retail Stores; NES Classic Edition On Stock At Target

Bad news for fans who are hoping to pre-order the Nintendo Switch from GameStop. The new console is already sold out. The retailer announced on Sunday that it has sold out all its allotment of the new console.
In the United States, it is reported that fans should not stress themselves looking elsewhere for the new Switch as it may be of no use. The console is unavailable for reserve and pre-order at either GameStop or any other major console gaming retailers in the U.S. including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us, Walmart.
Most of them have tagged the device as unavailable, some as early as three days after pre-orders went live. The Nintendo Switch which launches March 3, 2017. Some of these retailers still have the accessories and games available for pre-order.
Although GameStop did not specify the size of its allotment or how many pre-orders it has sold, a press statement from the company said it is working closely with Nintendo to get additional Nintendo Switch units. The company has urged gamers to sign up for its newsletter, so they will be notified via email when the switch is back in stock.
However, the gray market at eBay has been active since the launch date and cost of the device was revealed last week. According to Polygon, there are several listings for the console at up to $200 above its MSRP - $299.99 and the lowest price on a pre-order reservation was recently confirmed to be $405.99.
The latest update on the NES classic edition is that it is now in stock at Target stores. According to Eliptech, the units became available Monday morning and where an unnamed happy customer got the NES Classic at the Target store in Hanover, NJ after seeing it on the BrickSeek.
Following the Nintendo Switch's launch event last week, the president of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, noted during an interview that the developer did not anticipate the Switch running into a similar demand and supply issue faced with the Nintendo NES Classic Edition.
He stated that the company will not face an issue with the shortage of supply as they intend to release two million units of the switch worldwide, for the March launch. Fils-Aime added that when the Wii U launched in November last year, the console sold over 400,000 units in the United States.
In addition, almost 250,000 Wii U buyers were left on GameStop's pre-order wait list after the retailer exhausted its allotment. The Wii console is reported to have sold 600,000 during its launch week in 2006.
