‘The Last of Us 2’ Spoilers, Trailer & Update: Ellie’s LGBT Love Interest; Is Joel Really Dead or Alive?

After Naughty Dog released its “The Last of Us” back in 2013, fans are highly anticipating its upcoming second installment, “Last of Us 2”. Obviously, gamers would still be able to control Ellie who grew up to be stronger in the trailer. Yet, drastic reports state that fan favorite, Joel would not be seen in the late game.
After Naughty Dog released its trailer on recent PlayStation Experience 2016, speculations wavered as usual since the trailer didn’t give in much information. The director of “The Last of Us 2,” Neil Druckmann had hinted that the second franchise would focus on hate. It seems so that Ellie would take revenge on first game nemesis group, Fireflies.
On top of that, Game Rant shed some light on whether Joel is presumed dead or alive. Gamers pointed out in the trailer when Joel said "What are you doing, kiddo? You really gonna go through this?" hinted on his passing. Latest theories knocked online forums when Joel used the word “you” instead of “we.” The same theory implies on Ellie's response using just the word "I." It was also guessed that given Joel acts like a father figure for Ellie, he wouldn’t let her face off the Fireflies alone. Well, unless he is dead. In addition, claims also stated that Joel’s death could be a reason for Ellie’s raging hate for the notorious Fireflies.
Moving on to Ellie, Attack of the Fanboy revealed that game director Druckmann revealed that Ellie was always written as a gay character. More or less, in the first franchise, it was featured that Ellie kissed Riley which was okay according to Riley. “I was writing it with the idea that Ellie is gay, and when the actresses were working, they were definitely working with the idea that they’re both attracted to each other” Druckmann said.
Given that Ellie is gay, it was also guessed that a member from the Fireflies would be Ellie’s love interest. More so, it was also speculated that this certain love interest would help Ellie in the latter game.
Amid speculations and conspiracies, Sony hasn’t yet settled an official release date for the awaited survival game. So, fans are still bound to wait. Stay tuned for more updates.
