Harmful Effects Of Vegetable Oil: Experts Warn Consumers Who Use The Saturated Oil As It Leads To Migraine, Dementia, Alzheimer's

In the mid-20th century, most Americans have stopped using butter and creams due to the growing heart-attack cases and used other saturated fats in favor of vegetable oils. While this oil is perceived as the "healthier type", experts claim how it can put someone at risk of developing dementia. Research shows how it can cause "plaque build up" in the user's brain which is a recognized precursor that leads to severe neurodegenerative diseases.
Nutritionist and family physician Dr. Catherine Shanahan says the use of vegetable oil is a serious mistake. She explained that during the 1959s, buyers were suggested to ditch saturated fats and use other products such as vegetable oil instead. The oil has soonly become a pantry staple, however, there was another reason for its popularity.
Dr. Shanahan told Daily Mail Online that: "Restaurants and other establishments turned to vegetable oil because of the cost and availability. Olive oil is 10 to 50 times more expensive than vegetable oil." She also said that it is easier to use in cooking and has no flavor, unlike olive oil.
Vegetable oil comes in different types -- canola, corn, cottonseed, grapeseed, palm, rice bran, safflower, soy, and sunflower. While many people claim that these are healthy, Dr. Shanahan suggests otherwise as too much of this can harm the body. It can make a person feel foggy and fatigued, develop migraines, and increase the risk of having dementia or Alzheimer's.
Meanwhile, New York Post reported that the reason behind, according to experts, is because of what has happened when vegetable oils were heated or processed. During cooking, oxidants were stripped away resulting in an increase of free radicals. Such outcome triggers brain conditions down the line. "Oxidative stress disrupts the function of the brain, so the cells cannot do their normal housekeeping," Dr. Shanahan said as she linked it to having plaque buildup in the brain.
