‘Jane the Virgin’ Spoilers: Showrunner Reveals Reason behind Shocking Death; Brett Dier Would be Back

“Jane the Virgin” fans didn’t expect that shocking twist that happened on its last episode. #TeamMichael fans were left in shock when Jane’s husband, Michael Cordero just died due to heart failure just after taking the LSAT.

The reason behind the twist was still wondered by some fans, yet “Jane the Virgin” showrunner, Jennie Snyder Urman turned to Tumblr to produce a letter to clarify the reason behind that twist per Pop Sugar. Urman noted that she had already decided Michael’s death when she thought of the series as a whole.

Some fans were already triggered on the “Jane the Virgin” Season 1 on the narrator’s line, “For as long as Michael lived until he drew his very last breath, he never did” as a hint of Michael’s death. Yet, Urman said that Brett Dier who plays Michael Cordero had affected the timeline of Michael's life. She said that Michael is planned to die sooner, but Dier’s performance extended Michael’s life.

With that said, Brett Dier reacted on ET Canada that he was shocked by Michael’s death as well. He said that he just knew about Michael’s death during “Jane the Virgin” Season two but he didn’t expect it to happen for real.

Dier also said that Michael feels like a huge part of him and killing him on “Jane the Virgin” was hard for him to do. The actor also added that “I felt like he was a friend of mine, or something. It was very weird.” Dier also posted on Instagram his photo holding balloons gifted by his real life girlfriend, Haley Lu Richardson with words, “Long Live Michael” to commemorate the beloved character’s death.

Rest assured is that Brett would be back on “Jane the Virgin”, well not as expected but through flashbacks. Urman said on her interview with Holywood Reporter that “Definitely, definitely bringing Brett back. And there will be things that you hadn't seen before, and there will be things that you have.”

The showrunner then noted that the difficult part would be when to bring him back since it would be bad to bring him sooner since the fans wouldn’t feel his lost. Rest assured, “Jane the Virgin” fans could watch its next episodes every Mondays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
