Princess Diana Documentary Coming To ABC As Prime Time Show

The legacy and the life of Princess Diana is the subject of the latest prime time documentary.  On Monday, Time Inc. and ABC announced the arrival of the two part documentary based on the late Princess's life. The  two part documentary would be aired in August.

The four hour special documentary would feature new people who knew the Princess. They would offer an insight into the life of who is known as the People's Princess. According to The People, the documentary would have a fresh perspective on the Diana's life. It would include never disclosed information as well.

"Our audience has an insatiable appetite for news about the royal family. In fact, they are just as fascinated today as they were when Lady Diana was first introduced to the world back in 1981," said Jess Cagle, People's Editor in Chief. She said the magazine readers always have an interest in the royal family and claimed the audience have an insatiable hunger for news related to the royal family The Variety reported.

The special show marks the late Princess's 20th death anniversary. The 36 year old Princess of Wales, died in a car crash on August 31, 1997. Right after the Princess was first introduced in 1981 till today, people are fascinated about her read Cagle's statement.

Even today Diana's role as a royal, as a mother, and as a humanitarian live through her family and friends. "Even 20 years after her untimely death, Princess Diana's legacy continues to impact our world," claims Robert Mills of Alternative Series, Specials and Late Night, ABC.  He added the special would honor her memory as well as the good deeds she did in her short life.

Mills further mentioned that their partner at People are the right people to tell the story. They very well followed her life throughout the years. The show would be a joint venture by ABC and Time Inc. Productions and would have Maura Mandt, Emmy winner, as the executive producer.
