'Yuri On Ice' Season 2 Release Date News: Popular Anime Series Succeeded Japan's Domestic Blu-ray Sales And Topped Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2017

The popular anime series "Yuri on Ice" gained another round of achievement. The fan favorite Japanese show took first place during the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2017.

According to Anime News Network, "Yuri on Ice" ranked number one in the Animation of the Year: The Anime Fan Award and the Television Animation Division Award. The Theatrical Animation Division award, on the other hand, was grabbed by "A Silent Voice." The awarding ceremony will be held at Ikebukuro, Tokyo on March 10 to 13.

The latest commendation is one of the countless awards "Yuri on Ice" received. On the height of its vital acclaim, the anime's recognition also reached various regions. The series is the prime anime on different countries, including Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan, Poland, and the Philippines, Crunchy Roll reported.

Apart from the Animation of the Year Awards, "Yuri on Ice" also topped the domestic Blu-ray sales in Japan. The latter outlet also reported that the third volume of the popular anime sold over 33,000 units during its initial week in the market.

The DVD sales, likewise, sold 13,000 units reaching the second place in the DVD trades chart list. Ultimately, the anime disposed an almost 100,000 Blu-ray and DVD units.

After the recently obtained awards and sales success of "Yuri on Ice," its fans concern now is whether the anime will feature a second season. Fans are actually waiting for a further announcement about "Yuri on Ice" Season 2.

The "Yuri on Ice" producers didn't yet release any statement regarding the addition of a second season in the series. It's more than two months since its last episode aired on December 22, 2016.

Meanwhile "Yuri on Ice" Season 2 is highly-expected since the series inspired worldwide fans and viewers. The anime show relates the story of ambitious figure skater Yuri Katsuki and his combined emotions towards the sport and his normal life.
